New research found that HIV can passes more easily from men to women than previous thought. Before this many expert are strongly believed female vaginal tract presents an impenetrable barrier to AIDS virus if it is injured but a new research proof that is not the facts.

From the study they found the virus is still able to invade vaginal wall. It happen during sexual intercourse and then will give infection to immune system cells. For about four hours the viral particles can move between skin cells and then reach a depth of 50 microns where they got ability to attack immune cells.

Previously ,what has been understand by the scientist AIDS virus only could enter the vaginal tract through an open sore for instance which is caused by the herpes virus. Beside of this the virus might penetrate the single layer of skin cells that line a woman’s cervical canal. that is another theory beside what they already believed butĀ  there areĀ  no impact on HIV infection rates when an African trial in which women used a diaphragm to block the cervix.

‘A big mistake in this field is the idea that transmission only takes place one way,’ said Prof Hope, who presented the findings today at the American Society for Cell Biology’s annual meeting in San Francisco.

‘We urgently need new prevention strategies or therapeutics to block the entry of HIV through a woman’s genital skin.’ He added.
